Chicago, a wonderful town with essentially ZERO Republicans. A fine example of ACORN communtity organization at work, it's the legacy of the Obama Administration.
But, Illinois is ranked 3rd out of 11 states where there are more people on Welfare than there are people working. This is the political culture that Obama comes from in Illinois. And he is going to 'fix' Washington politics for us???
Chicago public schools are failing despite massive amounts of money flowing into the system. The chicago school system is rated one of the worst in the country. The city pays the highest wages to teachers than any other city in the U.S. averaging $76,000/year before benefits as reported by National Review online. Chicago school adminstrators are paid in excess of $120,000 per year. Teacher pensions in chicago average 80-90% of their income. But, just 15% of fourth graders in the state can read while just over 56% of freshman graduate. You can't blame that on republicans because there aren't any. Illinois Republicans elected a 'Democrat' for their party chair. Wow, are Illinois and Chicago great or what?
Some added perks for living in 'Chicago':
- Cook County ( Chicago ) sales tax is 10.25%, highest in the country
- State pension fund $63 Billion in debt, worst in country.
Illinois politicans also have a notable record of achievement:
George Ryan is no longer Governor, he is in the big house. Of course he was replaced by Rod Blajegovitch who is...that's right, also in the big house. And Representative Jesse Jackson Jr. resigned a couple of weeks ago. That is because he is fighting being sent to...that's right, the big house.
The Land of Lincoln , where our governors make our license plates.
It is also the poster city for the administration's gun control policies. Chicago has the highest murder rate in the country. Body count: In the last six months 292 killed (murdered) in Chicago, 221 killed in Iraq AND Chicago has one of the strictest gun laws in the entire US. Perhaps the U.S. should pull out of Chicago?
The Illinois state Leadership:
- Governor: Pat Quinn (D)
- House Leader Mike Madigan (D)
- Chicago Mayor Rahm Emmanuel (D)
- Attn Gen Lisa Madigan (D) (daughter)
- Senator Dick Durbin (D)
- House Representative: Jesse Jackson Jr. (D)
You can't blame republicans, there aren't any..
But you know what? As long as they keep providing entitlements to the population of Chicago , nothing is going to change, except the state will go broke before the country does.
